Plate Work

Here at Holden’s, we specialise is a range of engineering services including sheet metal work. Sheet metal is simply metal formed into thin and flat pieces. It is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and can be cut and bent into a variety of different shapes for many industrial applications.

Many everyday products and items we see are constructed from sheet metal . Thicknesses can vary significantly, although extremely thin thicknesses are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate.

We have experience of carrying our sheet metal work on a variety of core metals including aluminium, brass, copper, steel, tin, nickel and titanium and we have worked on projects which have included aircraft wigs, car and van bodies, tables and shelving used in medical centres and for body housings to add security to mechanical equipment
